Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office Policy and Development Program Bureau organized a Capabality Building Activity (CBA) on Case Management for Social Workers held at The Linden Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City last September 9-13, 2019. Participants came from different associations of social workers in the country like Philippine Association of Social Workers Inc. (PASWI), Philippine Association of Court Social Workers Inc. (PACSWI), Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines Inc. (ALSWDOPI), Association of Medical Social Workers of the Philippines Inc. (AMSWPI), Association of DSWD Social Workers Inc. (ADSWI), Association of Child Caring Agencies in the Philippines (ACCAP), DOH League of Medical Social Workers Inc. (DOHLMSWI) National Association for Social Work Education Inc. (NASWEI) and National Council of Social Development (NCSD). Mr. Gerard Mhel M. Tolentino Social Welfare Officer III of LGU Baliwag, Bulacan is one of the three (3) representatives of ALSWDOPI.
The training gave the participants a refreshment about case management which is an important method used by social workers in the problem solving process. Different theories and perspectives were discussed as well as techniques on handling cases of children in difficult circumstances. USec. Florita R. Villar of DSWD graced the event and stressed the importance of a social worker in helping individuals, families, groups and communities. Further, she elaborated for the organization to move for the upliftment of the profession so that others may view it as integral part of the society and not just during the times of disaster.
