“Let’s have a clean start” is a statement that incoming Baliwag Mayor Ferdie Estrella would want to convey to his constituents, both in figurative and literal manners.
The successful Clean-up Day held today, June 30, prompted volunteerism and bayanihan spirit among the Baliwagenyos from different walks of life. From households, barangay officials and volunteers, government agencies, schools and even business establishments, many local folks dedicated hours in the morning ensuring that the surroundings are clean, unwanted billboards are removed, the esteros are free from domestic and industrial wastes, and garbages are segregated, collected and disposed properly.
Estrella noted that the extensive participation of major stakeholders in this municipal-wide clean-up drive will serve as a springboard for an institutionalized clean-up activity, incorporated in the Solid Waste Management Plan that the local government shall implement.
Aside from physical clean-up activity, Estrella also wants to ensure that he will lead a Baliwag that is free of stains of corruption, irregularities and anomalies, which, according to him will be dealt appropriately in a legal way to ensure corresponding penalty for those who will be proven guilty of betraying the public office.
