Executive Order No. 35 otherwise known as the Baliwag Scholarship Grants for Public School Basic Education Teachers was officially signed by Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella (Mayor FVE) on the 16th of November 2016.
As part of its Serbisyong May Malasakit program, the Municipal Government sets another breakthrough program that will strengthen the educational foundations of young graduates and aspiring educators in town.
Mayor Ferdie believes that education is essential in preparing the municipality in its conversion into cityhood. In accordance, Mayor FVE invests in giving scholarship grants to public school teachers that wants to pursue their graduate education. The scholarship grants envision to enhance graduate students from public schools in Baliwag to have higher standard of education possible.
The said educational scholarship grant for public school teachers will be given to 10 qualified scholars preferably 5 female and 5 males per academic year. The scholars shall pass a panel interview from the BSG Technical Working Group.
Aspirant scholars shall formally express their intention to pursue graduate education addressed to the school principal. The principal shall then recommend the teacher for evaluation to the BSG screening committee headed by the municipal administrator.
Once qualified for the scholarship grant, the scholar is free to choose from any Higher Education Institution (HEI) to enroll within the province of Bulacan. The scholars are highly encouraged to choose programs that are allied to their baccalaureate degrees.
The total amount for each scholar shall be Php. 20,000.00 per semester and will be released upon issuance of the HEI receipt. The scholar shall be enrolled in not less than 9 units per semester and may request for additional time to complete the program that shall not exceed in two years’ time. Except in cases of sickness, accident or death, failure to finish the program on time, the scholar shall return the amount spent by the municipality in their schooling.
The municipal scholarship program shall commence on the first semester year of 2017-2018.
